This Advisory is based on TIP 37, Substance Abuse Treatment for Persons With HIV/AIDS. It highlights strategies and considerations for substance use disorder (SUD) treatment providers to effectively engage people with HIV in SUD treatment.

The National report presents indicators as measured through the 2019 National Survey on Drug Use and Health and the National Survey of Substance Abuse Treatment Services. State reports provide a snapshot of substance use and mental health in the United States.

This guide reviews interventions for people living with substance use and mental disorders who are at risk for or living with HIV. Selected interventions are in alignment with goals of the federal “Ending the HIV Epidemic: A Plan for America” (EHE) initiative.
