Drug Abuse Warning Network (DAWN): ED Visits Involving Alcohol Short Report presents the following data from January 2021-September 2023 (1) national estimates and characteristics of alcohol-related ED visits (2) demographics of alcohol-related ED visits (3) percent of ED visits related to alcohol and at least one other substance.

The N‑SUMHSS is a voluntary annual survey of all active substance use and mental health facilities in the United States, its territories, and D.C. The annual report presents findings on the general profile of substance use and mental health facilities, use of pharmacotherapies/medications, language assistance provided, and suicide prevention services.

This guide highlights strategies for behavioral health and housing providers to conduct outreach and engage with individuals experiencing homelessness, initiate use of behavioral health treatment as they wait to receive stable housing and retain them in their recovery efforts once housed.

This Advisory is based on TIP 37, Substance Abuse Treatment for Persons With HIV/AIDS. It highlights strategies and considerations for substance use disorder (SUD) treatment providers to effectively engage people with HIV in SUD treatment.

This Advisory, based on TIP 49, Incorporating Alcohol Pharmacotherapies Into Medical Practice, focuses on medication and related treatment decisions made after screening and assessment for AUD, and medically supervised withdrawal, if necessary. Alcohol consumption should not stop abruptly in those patients who have consumed alcohol regularly over a prolonged period of time. This Advisory is meant as an overview of AUD medications to facilitate abstinence.

This guide reviews interventions for people living with substance use and mental disorders who are at risk for or living with HIV. Selected interventions are in alignment with goals of the federal “Ending the HIV Epidemic: A Plan for America” (EHE) initiative.

The report highlights the need for HIV treatment providers to address behavioral health concerns with HIV. The report urges providers to start with screening for mental health and substance use disorders, and offers strategies for providers to implement screening practices.
